The project titled “Global solutions for slaughterhouses, meat processing plants and phytosanitary sector: treatment of category 3 animal wastes and production of high value products with biopesticide” (APTAR) is an European project funded by the European Commission within the Seventh Framework Program focused in the development of research interesting for Associations of SMEs. It tries to develop cost effective and environmental-friendly biologic procedures to transform category 3 animal wastes into valuable products that could be used in agriculture. This project involves associations of SMEs and SME that belongs to the meat and phytosanitary sectors and expert researching groups in biotechnology and agriculture from Spain, Bulgaria, Belgium and United Kingdom that will work in the achievement of the foreseen objectives and their exploitation and dissemination. APTAR will have a duration of three years. The activities started on 1st January 2009 and will finish on 31st December 2011. The total budget of the project is 3.480.083 € and the financial contribution of the European Commission is 2.422.597 € (69,61% of the total). |
